Art Matters Inc. is a small private foundation which, since 1985, has been instrumental in supporting the work of thousands of emerging artists, giving priority to artists dealing with contemporary forms and provocative issues. Over the last decade, Art Matters has given over $3 million to over 3,000 visual artists nationwide. It has always been the goal of Art Matters to provide support to artists directly, in a timely matter. Art Matters has offered fellowships to individuals, small grants to organizations, and has initiated and supported efforts such as The National Campaign for Freedom of Expression, Visual AIDS, The Arts Forward Fund, The Critical Needs Fund for Photographers With HIV/AIDS, and The Art Matters Catalog. At this time, Art Matters has suspended all grantmaking activities. Any future activities will be widely announced.
