Mingle & Jingle
This is a shopping bash you don’t want to miss! Join Artpace at the Shops at La Cantera for an evening of merriment with cocktails provided by Hudson Ferus, light hors d’oeuvres, fashion, a little socializing with new and old friends, and lots of shopping with special holiday incentives from retailers! Advance tickets ($20) are available through our online store, or the night of the event ($30 cash only). All tickets purchased through Artpace will benefit our residency, exhibition, and educational programs.

Day With(out) Art
Day With(out) Art began on December 1, 1989, as the national day of action and mourning in response to the AIDS crisis. Since then, it has grown into a collaborative project in which an estimated 8,000 national and international museums, galleries, art centers, AIDS service organizations, libraries, high schools, and colleges take part. The Artpace building will feature an AIDS awareness banner designed by late artist Chuck Ramirez (1962-2010), whose art and life were impacted by being HIV positive. During our regular public hours from noon to 5pm, Artpace will feature five consecutive screenings of Untitled by Jim Hodges, Carlos Marques da Cruz, and Encke King. The 60-minute film will be showing at participating venues throughout New York City and across the United States, including Artpace in honor of A Day With(out) Art. Beginning with a reflection on the early AIDS epidemic, the film eschews a linear narrative to introduce a fractious timeline, moving from the sublime to the tragic and back again. Please join us in recognizing this day as as the national day of action and mourning in response to the AIDS crisis.

Artpace After Hours
Spice up your Thursday night with a perfect blend of informal education and art encounters. Artpace After Hours takes adult audiences behind the scenes to reveal the mysteries of contemporary art through casual conversation and gallery interactions. Complimentary happy hour begins at 5pm and the program kicks off at 6pm, so grab a friend, enjoy a cocktail, and get a little art 101. Space is limited, so make your reservations early. Semester Program
Artpace’s Semester Program pairs a local artist with a class for a semester-long contemporary art effort that results in a site-specific artwork for the school’s campus. This fall, Kim Bishop’s AP Art History class at Brackenridge High School worked with printmaker Luis Valderas to produce three large-format woodcuts. On Saturday, December 10, the artists will create oversized prints in the Artpace parking lot on N. Flores Street, using a steamroller provided by HOLT CAT. The public is welcome.

Artist Appreciation Party
We’re just going to come right out and say it: Y’all are awesome. We love your creativity, your enthusiasm, and if there’s anything we appreciate more than a solid community of artists, it’s a big ol’ party to celebrate that community! You’re the guests of honor at our annual Artist Appreciation get-down. We’ll have music, food, drinks… we just need you! Presented by Blue Moon Brewing Company , this year’s party may just be our BEST yet. Meet us on our rooftop to dance the night away with special guest DJ Chicken George .

Bullets & Bubbly
Artpace, Sloan/Hall , and San Antonio Tidbits are joining forces to bring you the most interesting shopping event of the season at Sloan/Hall’s new location at 5922 Broadway . Armed with a glass of cava (courtesy of Artpace Alliance vendor The Monterey ), meet BulletGirl designer Jessica Meyer and check out some of her sleekest jewelry. Photographer Lindsay McCrum will also be at the soirée, signing copies of her new book, Chicks With Guns . And we’ll have limited-edition Marcos Ramírez ERRE (IAIR 08.2 ) T-shirts for sale. We recommend you arrive fashionably early-the first 50 guests will receive an exclusive holiday swag bag. And so you get the most bang for your buck: 20% of the evening’s proceeds will support Artpace! What a great give and take.

Taco Friday hiatus
Okay so Taco Friday without the tacos is just a regular Friday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t visit Artpace today, anyway. Our exhibitions are still on view. We’re still open to the public. Noon to 5pm. Free parking. Amazing artwork.

Taco Friday will resume NEXT YEAR on January 6 and will feature two Educator-led 10-minute Tours at 12:30 and 1pm.
