Teen Workshop: Painting in Motion
Drip, blend, smear, and splatter! The Artpace creative laboratory is open as our Teen Workshop: Painting in Motion puts your imaginative talent into action. We’ll be taking a close look at International Artist-in-Residence Jacco Olivier’s newest work, Cycle, then you will have the opportunity to make your own stop-animation film inspired by the exhibition. Artist Johnny Villarreal will help you transform your experimental paintings into moving works of art.

Artpace Teen Workshops are designed for students age 14-18. Space is limited for this exciting event, so contact us at education@artpace.org or 210.212.4900 to register. There is a $10 registration fee.

The Idea Fund Workshop
The Idea Fund grants $4,000 awards to 10 artist-centered projects that exemplify unconventional, interventionist, conceptual, entrepreneurial, participatory, or guerilla artistic practices.

Applications will be accepted from Texas-based artists, artist collectives, and/or curators who create and showcase new work involving the public via process, production, or presentation. Proposals are evaluated on artistic strength; overall vision; capacity to realize the proposed project; accessibility to the public; and demonstration of community support and commitment to serving a local constituency. The Round 5 deadline is October 19, 2012.

Swap Meet: Artpace and The Dikeou Collection
Public Opening & Walk-through
Our Hudson (Show)Room exhibition features works from The Dikeou Collection, curated by former International Artist-in-Residence Devon Dikeou (2011). A walk-through with the curator begins at 7pm. On view through December 30.

Más Rudas, a four-member San Antonio art collective that creates multimedia work centered in Chicana consciousness, debuts an installation in our Main Avenue windows. (Window Works opens in conjunction with our Hudson (Show)Room exhibition.) Also on view through December 30.

International Artists-in-Residence Community Potluck Dinner
Help us welcome our new International Artists-in-Residence: Dor Guez (Tel Aviv, Israel), David Benjamin Sherry (Los Angeles, California), and Sarah Sudhoff (San Antonio, Texas).

It's finally fall! We're responding to the cool weather with warm, spicy fare from The Institute of Chili. We'll provide the best chili in the city (including a vegetarian option), if you'll help by complementing the menu. Bring YOUR favorite breads, sides, or dessert to share on this casual evening of food, friends, and the future, as we talk to the new residents about their upcoming projects at Artpace. Artist presentations begin at 7pm.
