A nine-month, paid program designed for San Antonio area high school students (15-18 years old) to become advocates for contemporary art and young leaders in their community. Teen Council members work with Artpace staff and artists to develop teen programs, support Artpace events, and create a capstone project at the end of the school year.

The online application for the 2016-2017 Artpace Teen Council is closed.

Applications for the 2017-2018 Artpace Teen Council will open Spring 2017.

Texas Convening for Teens in the Arts

The two-day event, modeled after the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston’s National Convening for Teens in the Arts, aims to shape the current and future role of teen arts programs by bringing together seven Texas arts organizations that are actively engaging teen audiences. One educator and two teens from each organization serve as representatives at the convening to participate in public presentations, thematic roundtable discussions, and workshops.

This independently organized event is affiliated with the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) and part of the ICA’s National Convening for Teens in the Arts.

Teen Night

Each fall and spring, the Artpace Teen Council hosts a free after hours event that explores Artpace exhibitions for high school students. Teen Night features contemporary art experiences led by teens, art making, music, food truck fare, and more.
