SAN ANTONIO, TX – In an effort to encourage an on-going dialogue between local artists and an international arts community, as well as foster growth and vision of an artist's career, Artpace San Antonio is pleased to announce a call for Travel Grant applications.
Artpace is a laboratory for the creation and advancement of international contemporary art, and believes that art is a dynamic social force that inspires individuals and defines cultures. The innovative projects produced at Artpace are as likely to employ video, film, found objects, performance, and light, as they are paint, stone, and metal. Applicants whose work reflects this mission are encouraged to apply.
There may be more than one grant recipient per year; however, the total amount dispersed will not exceed $5,000. The award will assist an artist with travel related to his or her creative research and growth. Proposals may include research or project-specific travel to view a particular exhibition, collection, institution, or geographic location.
Applications must include the following:
- Proposed destination
- Proposed travel dates between May 2007 and April 2008
- Brief proposal describing purpose of travel
- Estimated budget, including amount requested as well as other sources
- List of two references, including all contact information
- Current CV or resume, including exhibition history
- Labeled visual support of up to ten digital images or up to a five minute DVD
- Printed image/video list in order presented, to include title, date, media, and size
- Institutional letter of invitation if applying to conduct research in a place where authorized access is required
- Self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like material returned, otherwise it will be retained for Artpace?Texas Artist Registry and available to researchers and guest curators
