Artpace presents 2 to Watch: Stuart Allen and Andrea Sanderson (AKA Vocab)

Three times annually, Artpace collaborates with literary arts center Gemini Ink to feature a visual artist and a wordsmith worth watching-emerging talents, those new to the community, or established artists with new bodies of work. On November 12, 2009, artist Stuart Allen will team up with spoken-word artist Andrea Sanderson (aka Vocab) for an evening of words and images.

For his current Artpace WindowWorks installation, Parallax San Antonio artist Stuart Allen created a series of silhouetted dancers who appear to move as one walks or drives past the Main Avenue gallery.

Movement and performance are also important to Andrea Sanderson. The poet, singer, and hip-hop artist known as Vocab began her career as a spoken-word artist in 2001. Her work can be found in numerous literary magazines and anthologies. She can also be seen at slam and showcase competitions across the nation.
