Artpace Unveils 2009 Holiday Window

'Tis the season for kindness! Artpace's 2009 Holiday Window presents a collaborative video created by students from the Alameda's Henry Ford Academy and San Antonio-based artists The Prime Eights, Angela Guerra and Mark Walley. This project will emphasize the importance of random acts of kindness with the students demonstrating kind acts in a three-channel video to be showcased in Artpace's Main Avenue gallery.
Holiday Window is a collaborative educational program wherein Artpace commissions a notable artist and art students to work together to create an original artwork for its Main Avenue windows. The local artist is selected to mentor students through the creative process and their culminating project is displayed for a full month during the holiday season. Since 2001, the Holiday Window program has invited students from Say Sí, Southside High School, Brackenridge High School, and Otto A. Pfeiffer Academy to collaborate with artists including, Vincent Valdez, Alex Rubio, John Mata, and Kate Terrell and teachers from the Southwest School of Art & Craft and the Carver Community Cultural Center. This seasonal event is part of ArtElements, Artpace's year-round K-12 programs for families, students, schools, and community organizations
