Artpace Invades Neiman Marcus Window with Artist Joshua Bienko

02.03.11

SAN ANTONIO, TX - Artpace and Neiman Marcus are pleased to announce a site-specific Artpace Window Works exhibition, the first in Neiman Marcus's history. Artpace 11.1 Window Works artist Joshua Bienko's installation, inspired by his ongoing series Ever So Much More So, will be unveiled on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. The display showcases Christian Louboutin stilettos hand-painted by Bienko. The five-inch designer heels feature photorealistic recreations of iconic works by contemporary artists such as Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons detailed on the infamous red soles. "Neiman Marcus is proud to make history with Artpace through this project as it is a cause we truly believe in," says General Manager Tom Wensinger. The retail leader and contemporary art center have a history of working together through Artpace's annual fundraising gala and special in-store events at Neiman Marcus's La Cantera location. "Artpace could not be more thrilled to be working with Neiman Marcus through this Window Works exhibition," says Mary Heathcott, Interim Managing Director at Artpace. "They set the standard in San Antonio as dedicated supporters of the arts and art education." The Neiman Marcus exhibition will be open for one week in honor of Joshua Bienko's long-term installation in the contemporary art center's Main Avenue window gallery, on view through May 1, 2011.
