As a relative newbie in San Antonio (I moved here in July 2013), it didn’t take long for me to recognize the impact Artpace has had and continues to have on the cultural and artistic character of this town. What I didn’t realize until I began my tenure as the new Digital Archivist here two weeks ago is how that impact reaches far beyond the walls of our building and all over the world. Over the next several months I will be working hard to make our archival collections at Artpace more accessible, and I look forward to sharing the exciting goings-on with you here on the blog and elsewhere.
So far, digging through the library and archives at Artpace has been challenging and fascinating, but I know I’ve just scraped the surface. I invite anyone to come join me in researching the history of this cherished organization. Whether you’re a researcher, art lover, or just looking to learn more about the art you’ve seen at Artpace over the years, I encourage you to get in touch with me at 210.212.4900 or swilliams@artpace.org for an appointment at the Artpace Archive and Resource Library.
