Opening Reception for our Hudson Showroom and Main Space Exhibitions

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Artpace San Antonio

Artpace San Antonio is excited to announce the opening of our first exhibitions of the new year. In our Hudson Showroom, Since Last We Met, is a solo exhibition featuring Artpace residency alumnus, Lordy Rodriguez. In our Main Space gallery, The boy, is a solo exhibition featuring Rudy Herrera. Both exhibitions open to the public on Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 6–8pm. This event is free and open to the public.  Free parking is located at 513 N Flores.

Lordy Rodriguez was an Artpace International Artist-in-Residence in 2001. Now, 22 years later, Rodriguez returns to Artpace with a selection of artworks he’s created since his residency. Since Last We Met, as the title suggests, is a conversation between friends, and like the artwork in his oeuvre, it is a play on place and memory. The exhibition consists of a variety of ink drawings that utilize alcohol-based inks and Micron pens to create what appear, at first glance, as maps.

On view in our Main Space gallery is The boy, featuring new work by local artist Rudy Herrera. Herrera often works on large-scale, colorful artworks that are intended to reach a broad audience – in particular to reach his peers who don’t naturally gravitate to art museums, galleries, and other curated spaces. Utilizing spray paint and acrylic, Herrera communicates with his first and most important audience, his contemporaries, and peers.
