Join Artpace Guest Curator, Morgan Quaintance and local radio host and KRTU General Manager, JJ Lopez, for an interactive conversation on the connections between art and radio. Quaintance hosts a radio show in London called Studio Visit, an hour-long, interviews-based radio program featuring international contemporary artists, writers, theorists and musicians. Morgan Quaintance (Artpace Fall 2018 Guest Curator) is a London-based writer, musician, broadcaster and curator. Born in South London, he is a regular contributor to Art Monthly and has written for The Guardian, The Wire, Art Review, Frieze, Rhizome.org, and a number of curatorial sites and blogs. He is a contributing editor for E-Flux’s online publishing portal Art Agenda, is a founding member of the curatorial collective DAM PROJECTS, and was the 2015/16 curatorial fellow at Cubitt Gallery, London. As a presenter he has worked with the BBC, Channel Four, Artfund, the Royal Opera House, National Theatre and Roundhouse, and is also the producer of Studio Visit, a monthly hour-long interviews-based program, broadcast on Resonance 104.4 FM, featuring international contemporary artists as guests.
JJ Lopez is the General Manager at KRTU and an all-vinyl, radio disc jockey based in San Antonio, TX. He has been playing records professionally for over twent-two years, specializing in Soul music from every era including current, Modern soul. Every first Friday of the month, you can catch him at Tucker’s Kozy Korner on the city’s Eastside. He is a resident DJ and host of the monthly all-vinyl disco party, The Soul Spot. JJ maintains a Music Business degree from San Antonio College, a BA in Cultural Studies from the University of the Incarnate Word and is currently a graduate student in UIW’s Communication Arts program.
