Virtual Studio Visit with Daniel Ramos

As we practice social distancing and look for engaging ways to share art with you, Artpace a virtual studio visit series as part of our Artpace at Home initiative. During the studio visits, you’ll get a glimpse into the artists’ studios, their works in progress, and learn more about their studio practices.

Our next studio visit will be with Spring 2020 International Artist-in-Resident Daniel Ramos. In 2019, Ramos produced an artist book entitled The Land of Illustrious Men. His exhibition at Artpace, of the same name, is his 2019 book writ large and in three-dimensions wherein viewers can surround themselves with Ramos’s own experiences, memories, and family.

About the Artist

Daniel Ramos exhibited the original The Land of Illustrious Men photographic series at Filter Space, Chicago in 2019. The series was featured in The New York Times Lens column and PDN Edu Magazine. Ramos won the 2018 Dorothea Lange-Paul Taylor Prize and completed the 2018 Artist Residency Program at The Center of Photography in Woodstock, New York. He was awarded second place in Cuartoscuro’s national competition in Mexico. His work has been exhibited at Houston Center for Photography, CPW’s Photography Now, AI-AP Latin American Fotografia 7, and the Lenscratch DeveloperXFor Freedoms Gallery.

Ramos graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BFA. in Photography in 2003 and studied for an MFA. at California College of the Arts in 2007.
