Artpace was packed with art fans last Thursday, who turned out in full force to see the opening of Vincent Valdez‘s The Strangest Fruit in Hudson (Show)Room, and Cathy Cunningham-Little‘s Within the Angles of Incidence (check out a time-lapse of Cathy’s piece on our website!). The two local artist drew a huge crowd from both San Antonio and across Texas, breaking our attendance record with 513 guests!

As guests mingled in the galleries, local singer Nina Diaz performed a rendition of Strange Fruit, written by Abel Meripool and popularized by Billie Holiday. During the artists’ dialogue, the artists spoke about their inspiration, and guests asked some great questions about the new pieces. Before Vincent’s dialogue, he asked everyone to smile and took a panorama of the crowd (see above)! Can you find yourself in the crowd?
