Seeking Orange, Green, and Red Objects for Chalk It Up Project Inspired by Linda Pace

This year’s 10th annual Chalk It Up is quickly approaching and will not only feature chalk murals by some of San Antonio’s most talented local artists but also a variety of creative activities for children that relate to Artpace’s current Hudson (Show)Room exhibition, Localized Histories.

Your help is needed to make a Kidzone project happen. Inspired by Linda Pace’s Orange Crush (currently on view in the HSR), kids will be invited to help create an assemblage of monochromatic (one color) objects. In addition to Orange Crush, Linda Pace created similar works of art in green and red. The Kidzone project will include three walls–one orange, green, and red.

This is where you come in. Objects of each color are needed for kids to use to fill the walls. Items you would normally donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army such as toys, books, and small household objects as well as clean, recyclable materials can be dropped off at Artpace in the dedicated boxes before next Friday, October 11th by 5pm.

Any items donated that are not utilized in the project will be given to a local charity or recycled appropriately. Your help is much appreciated.

See you at this year’s Chalk It Up, happening Saturday, October 12th from 10am-4pm on downtown Houston Street!
