Artpace Teen Council

Get involved / work with artists and administrators to become an advocate for contemporary art.

Work Collaboratively
with teens in
San Antonio

The Artpace Teen Council is a nine-month, paid program designed for San Antonio area high school students to become advocates for contemporary art and young leaders in their community. Teen Council members work with artists and administrators to develop teen programs, support Artpace events, and create community-based projects throughout the school year.

A student is eligible if they:

  • Are an area high school student (15-18 years old) living in Bexar County
  • Have their own transportation (a ride, a bus, a bike) to Artpace
  • Can meet every Tuesday from 5PM – 7PM at Artpace (non on school holidays)
  • Are open-minded, creative, responsible, and enjoy working collaboratively
  • Can commit to the Artpace Teen Council for one school year (September – May)

University Internships

Mentorship with Artpace staff

Gain first-hand experience in arts development and mentorship with Artpace staff / internship programs are tailored according to the student’s goals.

Reading Red Book Club

Explore perspectives, cultures, and ideas; discuss literature that has inspired artists and exhibitions.

Join Reading Red – an Artpace book club – and explore literature that has inspired artists and exhibitions. To embrace a wide range of perspectives, cultures, and ideas, Artpace artists and guest curators are invited to make selections. Meetings are held bi-monthly, on the last Saturday of each month beginning in February.

Reading Red is free and open to the public. Registration is required.

Look, learn, create, and reflect with innovative activities and lesson plans for at home and in the classroom that connect Artpace artists and exhibitions through discovery and cross-cultural concepts.

Artpace offers support and inspiration with innovative activities and lesson plans for use at home or in the classroom. The design of every exercise was influenced by the creative practice of an Artpace artist.
