On Saturday, April 25, 2020, Artpace hosted the first Virtual Reading Red Book Club Meeting.
To coincide with the ongoing Hudson Showroom exhibition, Visibilities: Intrepid Women of Artpace, Reading Red discussed Linda Nochlin’s essay “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?” Originally published in the January 1971 issue of ARTNews, Nochlin explores institutional obstacles that have prevented women in the West from succeeding in the arts. The discussion was moderated by Artpace Director of Residencies and Exhibitions, Erin Murphy.

Reading Red – an Artpace book club – explores literature that has inspired artists and exhibitions. In conjunction with Artpace’s 25th anniversary, we continue to celebrate Linda Pace’s legacy by discussing books and articles authored by women.
